186. Edna Ruth HOOKS was born on 6 February 1925 in Apex, Wake County, North Carolina. In 1955 she was a secretary at the North Carolina Licensed Practical Nurses Association in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina.55 She died of complications from pneumonia and respiratory failure on 26 December 2012 at the age of 87 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. Edna was buried on 30 December 2012 at Apex Cemetery in Apex, Wake County, North Carolina.

Edna Ruth HOOKS and Grover Belmont PROCTOR Sr were married on 11 July 1943 in Pinetops, Edgecombe County, North Carolina. He was married to Ruth in the two-story house owned by his great-uncle, Rev. Gold G. Trevathan, who (as a preacher in the Primitive Baptist Church) also performed the ceremony. Ruth's processional was down the staircase of the home, to where Grover was waiting, and they were married on the first floor. Aycock Street in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina in 1952.56 They56 lived at 2650 College Road in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina in 1953.57 Edna and Grover57 lived at Simpkins Street RFD 4 in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina from 1954 to 1955.55,58 Grover Belmont PROCTOR Sr59,60, son of Henry PROCTOR and Mary Ella HINTON, was born on 7 January 1918 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. Family stories say that the names "Grover" and "Belmont" were suggested to his parents by a neighbor lady, Mrs. Taylor, a widow who lived with her adult son John next door to the Proctors. There is no record as to why she chose those names. (Source: interview with Ruth Covert, 11/30/2003) He graduated in 1935 in Moncure, Chatham County, North Carolina. (Moncure High School) He served in the military from 1944 to 1945. He served in the U.S. Army as Pfc from April 1944 until his discharge in November 1945. He participated in the Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) and Rhineland (Siegfried Line) Campaigns; was wounded near Olzheim, Germany, in February 1945; and was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart. (source: U.S. Army documents) From 1952 to 1954 Grover was a Cost Accountant at Peden Steel in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina.56,57,58 In 1955 he was an Assistant Warehouse Manager at Peden Steel in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina.55 He died on 22 June 1982 at the age of 64 in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. Grover was buried on 24 June 1982 at Apex Cemetery in Apex, Wake County, North Carolina.

Edna Ruth HOOKS and John Wesley HARTSFIELD were married on 28 December 1985 in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina.61 The wedding took place at Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Edgar D. Byers officiating. Their witnesses were Richard D. Hartsfield, Jr., and Grover B. Proctor, Jr. (source: Hartsfied/Proctor Marriage License) John Wesley HARTSFIELD, son of Nicholas Alva HARTSFIELD and Laura William DAVIS, was born on 24 October 1913 in Wake Forest, Wake County, North Carolina. He died on 20 July 1996 at the age of 82 in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. He was buried on 23 July 1996 at Apex Cemetery in Apex, Wake County, North Carolina.
